reflection 2

What is educational technology twenty years after?

To have an effective teaching-learning process the use of educational media plays a crucial role. It act as the concrete bridge for the teacher and students, its impact made students’ learning easier and exciting more often than not instructional technology can be one of the reasons of students’ success in academic manner. Base on the video clip trully that the evolution of instructional technology rapidly occuring. From a simple or traditional chalk and board systems as years passes by it turns into an enormous instructional technology which is currently called as smart board. It is really stunning, to have this kind of instructioanal media is a great privilege.

From a traditional chalk and board that whenever the teacher writes and erases the writings on the board the dust fell on the floor or even inhaled by the teacher him/herself and the students as well. But  because of the evolution of the instructioanal technology they come up with the smart board, that is very convenient to use.It might be  because of the vast use of educational technology, perhaps twenty years from now there will be a newly invented instructional media that can be use to make teaching and learning process more  convenient. Because of the demand of the cellphone even the 5 yr.

Old kid knows how to use it maybe twenty years from now cellphone can also be a source of  learning. Twenty  years from now all cellphones have an access to all their teachers/professors, whenever they had to submit assignments, throuhg their cellphone they can easily submit without any hassle. And also through this newly invented cellphone they can have their grades by just sending in  by the professors and they can also enroll even they won’t come to their respective schools by just sending their documents to the email address of the school .

And also through  this newly invented cellphone they can take exams without paying examination fee, because the professor will  send in the test questions on their cellphones, no need to bring pen and permit . With this the learning and studies will be more convenient for the students. Because it is handy,  it will be easy for the students to bring it with them, also  they can keep it even in their pants pocket. Unlike on the tablet it needs big bag to place in.   By that time teaching-learning process will be more effective  and learning will be attainable.

I. Objectives:
1. recall and discuss data related to  educational technology1
2. appereciate the relevance of educational technology 1 in teaching and learning process.
3. utilizes the instructional technology in teaching-learning process wisely and effectively.

II.Introduction:
The educational technology 1 course has truly paved the way for the learner to become aware, appreciative, and equipped to use educational technology tools ranging from traditional to modern educational media. ET 1 is being  introduced in most education students to accentuate the importance  of using instructional technology such as media to attain the effective teaching –learning process.

III. Learning content:
A review in Educational technology 1
Educational technology-
Is the field of study which is concerned with the process of using educational methods and resources for the ultimate goal to facilitate teaching-learning process.
Truly, the foundation for a truly satisfying exposure to educational technology has been firmly laid down by the ET 1 course, starting with the thorough treatment of the history of educational technology.
History of educational technology
1.     Ancient Greece “techne” refers to the process of applying knowledge systematically to the art of instruction.
2.     During the middle age, Pierre Abelard introduced a technology of instruction.
3.     Comenius, Pestalozzi and others contributed their own concepts on Educational technology
4.     Johann Amos Comenius Pioneer of modern instructional technology.
5.     Edward Thorndike and John Dewey
6.     Formulated the scientific theory of learning and scientific method.
7.     The 19th century effective technological development
-by 1920, visual media became widely accepted
-1926, educational films were used as instructional media
-1927, Pressey wrote on programmed learning
H.HHHHhhhhhhhhhnhhhh1932 the first instructional television program
I.Wortl war II implementation of instructional technology.
Quality of Education through educational technology
§  As educators become more keenly aware of their responsibility to deliver the best quality education to students, they have began to recognize the need to be aware of educational technology.
§  With photo copier, now students can have a copy of relevant sections of books and articles and take them home for study.
Meaning of educational technology
§  Technology in education
-was a subsequent soft ware phase in which suitable learning materials were developed.
§  Technology of education
-it is the  process/application
The roles of educational technology in the 21st century
3  current  trends that may point the way to the nature of teaching and learning in the future.
§  Student-centered learning
-Ways of learning that fit the students’ needs
§  Teaching higher cognitive and non-cognitive skills
-development of science and technology-based game, simulation, and case studies. These techniques of instructions are ideally suited for the use in teaching the various higher cognitive and non-cognitive skills.
§  The spread of information technology
-aiding this spread of the use of, the computer.
In ET 1 the learner also oriented of dangers of dehumanization.
1.     We turn them on and off whenever it suits our fancy.
            2. No explanation is offered on why and what they do.
            3. Their plans and future are unheard.
4. All work and no play.
            5. Their human worth is judged only by the quality of their products.
6. Human empathy is absent.
On the application of educ. Tech. to instruction ET1 showed the 4 phases of educational tech. in teaching-learning namely;
1.     Identification of objectives-logical approach to human activities, there must be care in ensuring that selected objectives are relevant to the learner’s needs.
2.     Design of learning experiences- the teacher must consider (a) sequences and strategies and (b) modes and media
c. Evaluation of the effectiveness of the learning experiences- the use of evaluative devices, (a) observation devices: checklist, rating scales, anecdotal records (b) self-report instruments: inventories, questionnaires (c) test items: essay and objective types.
d. Improvement of the learning experiences as to better achieve the objectives- revisions may be done, such as by changes in the media or materials employed.
Adding to the technology sophistication of the learner, ET 1 fittingly refined the distinction between educational tech. and other concepts such;
Instructional technology are those aspects of educational technology  that are concerned primarily with instruction as contrasted to design and operation of educational instructions.
Educational media are the means of communication available for educational purposes other than the teacher himself.
Audio-visual aids emphasizes the use of the senses hearing (audial) seeing (visual)
To  orient the learner to the pervasiveness of educational technology in society.
n  man’s ability to witness events as they happen, thus greatly increasingly our exposure to “messages” that can inform, reform, educate, entertain, created monetary, and other benefits to man.
n  “radio and television programs” can contain educational, social, cultural, and human values.
To lend familiarization on how educational technology can be utilized as media for the avenues teaching-learning process in the school
            Message-content to be taught.
Medium-the shape of the message.
Channel-is the vehicle or the structure through which the medium is presented to the learner.
To uplift the learner to human leaning through the use of learning technology
Domains of learning

3. Fidelity- constancy
4. Checklist-It helps to ensure consistency and completeness  in carrying out a task
5. Anedotal- Significant incidents or specific, observable behaviours can be recorded by teachers in anecdotal records.

V. Summary:
Truly, the foundation for a truly satisfying exposure to educatonal technololgy has been firmly laid down by the ET1 course, starting with the thorough treatment to the history of educational technology from ancient greece to world warII, quality education, and the role of ET1 in the 21st millennium.

In ET1, the learner was also oriented towards averting the dangers to dehumanization which technology brings inteo societies, and communication specialist Phil Lange named six ways that student learner in school are treated mechanically . 1.we turn them on and off whenever it suits our fancy. 2.no explanation is offered on why and what they do. 3.their plans and future are unheard. 4.all work no play. 5.their human worth is judged by the quality of their products. 6.human emphaty is absent. On the application of educational technology to instruction. ET1 showed 4 phases of application of ET1 in teaching-learning namely; a.identification of objectives b.design of learning experiences c.evaluation of hte learning experiences d.improvement of the learning experiences. Adding to the technology sophistication of the learner, ET1 fittingly refined the distinction between ET and other concepts such as instructional technology, educational media, audio visual aid. To orient the leaner to the pervasiveness of educational technology in society. “messages” that can inform, educate, entertain, reform, created monetary, adn other benefits of man. “Radio and television program” that can contain educational, social, cultural and human values.  To lend familiarization on how educational technology can be utilized as media for the avenues teaching-learning process in the school; media, medium, channel. To uplift the learner to human learning through the use of learning technology, 1.cognitive level skills 1.1 knowledge 2.2 comprehension 3.3 application 4.4 creation 2. Affective level 2.1 receiving 2.2 responding 2.3  valuing 2.4 characterizing 3. Motor skill level 3.1 imitation 3.2 manipulation 3.3 precision 3.4 articulation, Interpersonal skills                    1. Seeking and giving information 2.proposing 3. Building and supporting  4. Shutting 5. Disagreeing 6. Summarizing

V. Conclusion and Reccommendation:
I therefore conclude that, truly the use of instructional technology has a big part on learners’ learning. It does’nt just create visual creativity of  the student but using educational technology student can learn and explore new things. Using ET students can now easily understand the lesson thru presenting real objects or either pictures for them to visualize the topic itself. Consequently ET also acts as  a helping aid for the teachers as a modern tool to execute their lessons in a way that students will no longer take hard time visulizing the lessons.

VII. Post test:
_________1. It is the shape of the message.
_________2. Revision may be done such as by changes in  the materials or media employed to have an effective teaching –learning process.
_________3. It is described by some as the process by which people are treated mechanically.
_________4. The teacher’s objective should be congruent to the learner’s need.
_________5. It is the use of software phase for the suitable learning.

Key to correction
1.     Medium
2.     Improvement of the learning experiences
3.     Human mechnanization
4.     Identification of objectives
5.     Tech.in
